Your facelift options

Dr. Reinblatt offers two distinct facelift options to her patients: the lower and the full. Each targets a specific area of the face and is best for different patients with varying degrees of aging.

Lower facelift: Tighten the lower third of your face

  • Exclusively addresses the mouth area, jawline and neck
  • Smooths facial creases and deep lines
  • Targets jowls and tightens a fleshy neck
  • Elevates the corners of the mouth

Who is the lower facelift for?

The lower facelift is best for men and women who:

  • Feature good skin elasticity
  • Have lax skin around the jawline
  • Have drooping corners of the mouth
  • Possess excess skin and fat on the neck

The full facelift: Comprehensive facial rejuvenation

  • Targets the entire face - from the forehead to the neck
  • Minimizes marionette lines and nasolabial folds
  • Smooths eye creases and tightens sagging cheeks
  • Contours the jawline, reduces jowls and removes unwanted fat from the neck

Who is the full facelift for?

The full facelift is best for men and women who:

  • Are in their 50s and 60s
  • Need a dramatic transformation
  • Feature signs of aging throughout the face

Your facelift surgery

Your facelift surgery will be done under general anesthesia. If you're having a lower facelift, Dr. Reinblatt will create incisions along your ears and hairline. If you're having a full facelift, she will make a longer incision along the temple, around the ears and down the neck.

Through those openings, she will use the comprehensive SMAS technique. This involves lifting and tightening your underlying muscles to improve the facial contours at a structural level. From there, she will remove excess skin from the surface.

The recovery: What to expect

When you wake up from surgery, your face will be gently wrapped with bandages to reduce swelling and bruising. You will be permitted to return home immediately to begin the healing process.

Once home, it's important to keep your head elevated and take your medication as prescribed by Dr. Reinblatt to manage any discomfort. You will also need to avoid sun exposure and physical activity.

The length of your recovery will depend on the procedure. With a lower facelift, you should be back to your normal daily routine within seven to ten days, while a full facelift will require about two weeks. However, it may be even longer before you are cleared to resume strenuous exercise.
